Muscat: The Royal Navy of Oman opened the Oman National Hydrographic Office building.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA) said: "The Royal Navy of Oman celebrates the opening of the Oman National Hydrographic Office building, under the patronage of Vice-Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis bin Abdullah al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces."

The statement added that the office will provide national hydrographic services, preserve hydrographic information from hydrographs and others, as well as compile hydrographic data and issue marine and electronic charts and navigational publications for all marine areas and Omani water bodies. The office will also preserve and maintain the national hydrographic archive and the various hydrographic requirements, monitor the navigational safety of Omani water-goers and provide hydrographic advice to national authorities and bodies.
