Oman attends ANNHRIs 17th General Assembly

Muscat: Oman participated in the 17th General Assembly of the Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRIs).

Oman was represented by Sheikh Abdullah bin Shuwain Al Hosni, Chairman of the Omani Human Rights Committee, said an online statement issued by Oman News Agency .

In his speech, the chairman thanked the Independent Commission for Human Rights in the State of Palestine for presiding over the previous session and wished his brothers in the National Human Rights Committee in the State of Qatar who took over the presidency of the network for the next session success. 

He also expressed his appreciation of the Network’s General Secretariat for continuous efforts to enhance cooperation and develop joint programmes among the Network’s members in issues related to human rights.

Issam Yunis, President of the ANNHRIs, highlighted the most prominent work of the network during the presidency of the Independent Commission for Human Rights in the State of Palestine. He also thanked the members of the network for their continuous support to the Palestinian cause. 

At the end of his speech, he handed over the presidency of the network to Dr Ali bin Smaikh Al-Marri, head of the National Human Rights Committee of the State of Qatar.

In the second session, the Omani Human Rights Committee, represented by Al Munthir bin Ahmed Al Siyabi, was elected to the membership of the drafting committee for the network’s meetings.
