Muscat: Electricity has been cut off since Tuesday evening, May 4,2021, in several areas in North Al Batinah Governortae, as a result of the damage caused by rainsstorms to a number of electricity and lighting poles.

Omani citizen Moaz Al Saeedi spoke exclusively to Times of Oman: "Since Tuesday night until now, we have been suffering without electricity in our house and neighbouring houses due to the damage caused to the electricity and lighting poles in our area in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura, North Al Batinah Governorate, due to rainstorms and strong winds."

“We hope that the end of maintenance operations and the restoration of electrical current to homes will be expedited, as there are children, the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases who need electricity services, especially for air conditioning in these high temperatures in the summer season," he added.

Another citizen from the Wilayat of Saham also confirmed that some areas in the wilayat suffer from power cuts since Tuesday evening, and that there is great suffering due to the summer heat and the urgent need for electricity. He is wondering why so much time not to restore electricity yet.

Several wilayats in North Al Batinah Governorate were exposed on Tuesday evening, May 4, 2021, to torrential rains accompanied by strong winds, which led to citizens and residents suffering severe damage to their private properties in their homes, farms and animals, as well as shops and a gas station, and public properties such as lighting, electricity and public facilities were exposed also to several damages led to power cuts in a number of areas at the governorate.
