Muscat: Pakistani expats in Oman who need passport-related services can get them done at a discounted rate, after their costs were reduced to make them more affordable for people, during the pandemic.
The costs of renewing existing passports and issuing new ones valid for 10 years have been reduced by 10 per cent, with immediate effect. The ruling is to be followed by all passport issuing authorities both in Pakistan and overseas. Service costs relating to five-year passports will remain the same.
Before the decision was introduced, the cost of a 36-page passport with a five-year validity was PKR3,000 (OMR7.5), while a 10-year passport cost was PKR4,500 (OMR11).
The same passports, if needed at short notice, cost PKR5,000 (OMR12.5) for a five-year document, and PKR7,500 (OMR18.5) for one valid for 10 years.
Similarly, a 72-page passport was priced at PKR5,500 (OMR13.5) for a five-year passport PKR9,000, (OMR22.5), for one required urgently) and PKR8,250 (OMR20.5) for one with a 10-year validity PKR13,500, (OMR33.5) for one required urgently).
100-page passports are also available, according to Pakistan’s Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. These cost PKR6,000 (OMR15) for one valid for five years, and PKR9,000 (OMR 22.5) for a 10-year passport.

Pakistani nationals who need these at short notice need to pay OMR30 for a five-year passport, and OMR45 for one lasting 10 years.
