Muscat: An Asian national was arrested at the Wadi Al Jizi border on charges of possession of a fake passport.
The Buraimi police arrested the him while he was arriving from a neighbouring country.
The investigation showed that the person replaced the photo in the fake passport with his photo and was trying to enter the country illegally.
He has been referred to the public prosecutor for further legal action.
10 arrested in Ibri
Ten expatriates were caught during a raid that took place in Ibri on houses by the Dhahira Police on charge of violating the Labour and Resident Laws.
The raid was conducted by a joint team formed to combat the illegal existence of expats in the Sultanate.
The police had called on the public to report any similar suspects through the number 9999 or the nearest police station.
5 arrested theft charges
Five nationals were arrested by General Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations for committing 24 thefts in Muscat. Among the 24 cases, the defendants broke the door of a company and store OMR6,000.
After investigation, the defendants were caught with OMR500, other gulf currencies, four khanjars, two pistols, a wireless device and cameras.
The five defendants admitted to their 24 crimes and said they had used gloves and masks while committing their crime during late nights.
The defendants have been referred to the public prosecution for further legal action.
Man arrested for theft
An Omani national was arrested in Qurum by the General Directorate of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations.
Several complaints had been received by the General Directorate regarding theft cases which had led the General Directorate to form an investigation team.
Following the different cases details, the investigation team found that the thefts were similar in nature, where the thief climbed the walls of houses, entered from windows and steal cash and traditional weapons to sell them later on.
The defendant was arrested while trying to steal from a house in the Qurum area. He later admitted to his crimes during preparation for further legal action. -ONA
