Muscat: The Ministry of Energy and Minerals is hosting the launch of the third edition of the Green Hydrogen Summit Oman, scheduled to take place from December 12 to 14, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.

Organised by Birba, the event aims together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators in joint discussion sessions to present the latest policies, legislation, and modern technology aimed at accelerating the pace of energy transition and promoting sustainable energy solutions.

Oman aspires to become one of the world's largest hydrogen producers by 2030, leveraging its human, natural, and geographic resources to lead in this promising sector. This initiative aims to achieve optimal benefits from the hydrogen sector's sustainability, contributing to emission reduction and fulfilling Oman's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The summit aligns with Oman's Vision 2040, supporting energy transition and sustainable development. Oman is working towards achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with green hydrogen playing a vital role in this energy transition.
The summit will feature a diverse range of sessions covering key topics in the hydrogen sector. Several workshops will provide participants with the opportunity to engage with vital aspects of hydrogen, ranging from fundamentals to project feasibility, certification programs, and local value addition. Additionally, the summit will serve as a platform for leading discussions on green hydrogen markets, green financing, and sustainable mobility.

The Oman Green Hydrogen Summit is expected to attract distinguished participants at both the local and international levels. Major corporations such as Hydrom, OQ, PTTEP, IEA, Asyad, Bloomberg, NEOM, Nasdaq, CNN, BMW, Vulcan Steel, Engie, BP, CNBC, Alsharq with Bloomberg, and other prominent companies will be participating.
On the sidelines of the summit, on December 10, the organisers will arrange a tour featuring BMW hydrogen-powered vehicles, starting from Dubai to Muscat. This initiative aims to showcase the latest advancements in modern technology supporting the concept of the future of green energy. Participants will have the opportunity to experience driving the BMW iX5 hydrogen-powered car.

Furthermore, an executive energy circle (EEC) discussion session will take place, gathering global energy leaders for advanced discussions, coinciding with the conclusion of the COP 28 in Dubai. This session will address key policies and legislation developed during the COP 28 conference. The summit will also witness the launch of the "Women in the Future of Energy" platform, providing a forum for women in the energy sector.
