Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), has foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 2,000 packages of khat on a boat.
A statement issued online by ROP said: "Coast Guard police boats, led by the Dhofar Governorate Police, thwarted an attempt to smuggle 2,940 packages of khat on a boat off the shores of the governorate by four people. They dealt with them, seize the seizures. The legal procedures against them are being completed."
