Oman weather: Heavy to moderate rainfall reported in various parts of Sultanate

Muscat: Various parts of the Sultanate witnessed heavy to moderate rain on Wednesday, which resulted in overflowing wadis, a weather enthusiast said, quoting residents.
“Heavy rain fell in Yanqual, Sohar, Rustaq, Khabourh, Samail, Saham, Buraimi, Ibra, Nakhal, Al Hamra and Jabal Shams on Wednesday afternoon,” said Bader Ali Al Baddaei, an administrator of www.rthmc.net, a local web-based forum that discusses weather in Oman.
“Wadis in Samail, Al Buraimi and Sohar are overflowing,” he added.
The Oman Meteorological Department has issued an advisory notice forecasting thunderstorms in some parts of Sultanate on Wednesday.
Places, such as Rustaq, Ibra, Thumrait, Samail, Bahla, Ibri, Nizwa, Adam, Mudhebi, Haima, Mhout, Sunaynah, Saiq, Duqam Airport, Bidiya, Yanqual, Bidbid, Jabal Shams, Al Hamra and Izki will experience thunderstorms, according to the advisory notice.
It also predicted chances of a dust or sandstorm in Fahud.
The Oman Meteorological Department’s forecast for Thursday predicted cloudy skies over the Dhofar Governorate and adjoining mountains with intermittent drizzle.
It also predicted chance of isolated thundershowers over desert areas of the Dhofar Governorate.
Mainly clear skies over the rest of the Sultanate might result in isolated rain over south Al-Sharqiya and Al-Wusta governorates, the forecast stated.
The highest temperature recorded on Wednesday was in Sunaynah, which was around 45 degree Celsius, according to the Oman Meteorological Department’s website.
A senior official at Accuweather.com has predicted that there are chances of spotty storms during next few days.
Temperature levels in Muscat rose slightly, when compared with Tuesday, and were hovering around 37 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
