No sign of slowdown as Covid-19 cases continue to rise in Oman
Muscat: The Sultanate has registered more than 90 hospitalised patients within 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health, pointing to a significant increase in new cases of coronavirus infections in the country.
On Tuesday, statistics made available on Tarassud, the coronavirus monitoring app launched by the ministry, showed that the number of those hospitalized during the past 24 hours reached 94, and 169 patients admitted to ICU during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of patients admitted to health institutions to 623 cases, which is the first time the Sultanate has registered of the hospitalized patients at the hospitals since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Sultanate also recorded six deaths during the past 24 hours bringing the total to 1,728 and 1,208 new cases of Coronavirus, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry stated that the total number of registered cases in the Sultanate is 165,482 cases, the recovered 148,303, by 90,81 percent, and 1,728 deaths, by 1.05 percent.
Speaking to Times of Oman, Ibrahim Al Maimani, Social Active and Analyst Data said:” In terms of hospitalized patients cases at hospitals of the Sultanate, it was noticed that the number of inpatients until the end of March reached 515 cases, and the cases rose until today on Tuesday to 623 cases, and for the first time we reached this number since the beginning of the pandemic, with an increase of 108 cases, which form increasing by 21 percent.”
He continued:” As for intensive care cases, their number reached 156 cases by the end of March, and today on April 6, their number reached 196 cases in intensive care, an increase of 40 cases, by 26 percent.”
About the deaths due to COVID-19, he said:” The total number of deaths in the first 5 days of April reached 47 deaths, with a daily average of 9.4 deaths per day, and this indicator changes high compared to the previous months.”
