Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,717.20 points, up 0.47 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.89 per cent at 530.79 points.

Al Anwar Ceramics, up 5.77 per cent, was the top gainer while Asaffa Foods, down 9.82 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Investment were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 720 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.76 million, with more than 14.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 50 traded stocks, 13 advanced, 10 declined and 27 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR106,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR91,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR15,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,748.94 points, up by 0.72 per cent. Vision Insurance, HSBC Bank Oman, Al Omaniya Financial Service, Al Anwar Investment and Muscat Finance were up 3.90 per cent, 3.06 per cent, 2.86 per cent, 2.25 per cent and 2.22 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Holding and Al Sharqia Investment were down 4.00 per cent and 1.35 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,708.79 points, up 0.76 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics, Jazeera Steel Product and Oman Cement were up 5.77 per cent, 1.90 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively. A'Saffa Foods, Galfar Engineering and National Aluminum Product were down 9.82 per cent, 2.00 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively.

Services index was down by 0.76 per cent before closing at 1,525.07 points. Dhofar Generating, Oman National Engineering and Al Jazeera Services were up 2.58 per cent, 2.22 per cent and 1.97 per cent respectively. Shell Oman Marketing, Majan College, Sembcorp Salalah, Oman Telecommunication and Ooredoo were down 6.98 per cent, 6.29 per cent, 1.23 per cent, 0.54 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.
