CAA lists out requirements for amphibious craft operations in Oman

Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), has issued a notice for investors wishing to establish and operate amphibious aircraft in the Sultanate.  

A statement issued online by CAA said: "The Civil Aviation Authority is pleased to invite investors wishing to establish and operate amphibious aircraft to submit their requests to the Authority as follows:

1- A detailed offer shall be attached with the application that includes the economic feasibility study, the company's business plan and proof of financial ability.

2- Application forms for a Class (B) operating license are filled out for aircraft with a capacity of 19 seats or less or with a maximum take-off weight of less than 10 tons. The forms can be obtained through the authority's website https://caa.gov.om

3- Pay the application fee of OMR 300.

4- After the initial acceptance of the application, the applicant is obligated to complete all requirements for the issuance of the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) with the Authority according to a specific timetable."

The authority also clarifed the following:

1- Applications shall be sent via e-mail to the following Customer Services Department at [email protected]

2- Initial acceptance of the application does not mean approval, and in the event that more than one application fulfils the requirements and established procedures, the Authority will choose between applications and consider licensing only two operators, as a maximum, exclusive for a period of seven years from the date of issuing the second license.
