UN body praises Oman for successful conduct of electronic census

Muscat: The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) has praised the efforts of the National Center for Statistics  
and Information for the successful conduct and implementation of the electronic census of population, housing and establishments 2020 based on administrative records. 

The UN body also praised the speedy publication of its results in record time, despite the exceptional circumstances that afflicted the world in 2020, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The National Centre for Statistics and Information, at the workshop organised by the ESCWA, highlighted its experience in the wonderful work done by the centre and the Sultanate’s experience in conducting a census based on administrative records which was attended by a large number of experts representing a number of Arab and international organisations , and appreciated the efforts made by the Sultanate for the conduct of the census based on the administrative records. 

The participants also called on the centre to conduct a series of workshops and seminars -

targeting each stage of the census, including the challenges faced and related solutions, linking records, the role of geospatial information and the quality measurement framework.
