Over 3,000 defendants referred in Oman

Muscat: More than 3,000 defendants during the month of March 2021 were referred to the Public Prosecution, an increase of 13.6 per cent compared to February 2021, according to the statistics of the Public Prosecution during the month of March 2021 compared to February 2021.

A statement issued online by the Public Prosecution said that it received 200 electronic complaints last March, an increase of 0.5% compared to February 2021, which amounted to 199 electronic complaints.

The Public Prosecution revealed that the number of cases received during the aforementioned period amounted to 2,501 cases, as the percentage increased to 7.1% compared to February 2021, which amounted to 2,336.

The figures published by the Public Prosecution also indicated that the number of investigation reports conducted during the same period amounted to 5,287 records, an increase of 15.8% compared to February 2021, which amounted to 4,564 investigation reports.

The figures published by the Public Prosecution revealed that the number of defendants in the cases that came to the Public Prosecution during the month of March reached 3,182, as the percentage increased to 13.6% compared to February 2021, when the number of defendants reached 2,800.

The Public Prosecution confirmed that the number of judicial decisions during the month of March reached 2730, an increase of 14.9% compared to February 2021, when the number of judicial decisions reached 2,376.

The Public Prosecution added that the number of judicial orders during the month of March amounted to 11,649 judicial orders. As for the requests received by the Customer Service Department, it amounted to 82 applications, as the percentage increased to 20.6% compared to 68 requests during the month of February 2021.
