Oman’s Health Ministry clarifies issue of airlifting patient to UAE

Muscat: The Ministry of Health has issued an explanation regarding messages being circulated on social media about the transport of a patient by helicopter from a hospital in Oman to the United Arab Emirates.

An official from the Ministry of Health explained to Times of Oman: "The man who was airlifted from Ibri Hospital in Al Dhahirah Governorate to Al Tawam Hospital in Al Ain city in the United Arab Emirates is an Emirati citizen holding a resident card in the Sultanate."

He continued: "The Emirati citizen suffered from injuries after a car accident and was immediately transferred to the hospital on March 25, 2021."

This came after news was circulated on social media that an ambulance helicopter from the Abu Dhabi Police transported a 63-year-old citizen with a spine injury from Ibri Hospital in the Sultanate of Oman to Tawam Hospital in the United Arab Emirates to complete treatment.”
