Nizwa Hospital to get additional ICU beds

Muscat: More ICU beds are being added at Nizwa Hospital, the Ministry of Health (MOH), announced on Wednesday.

The Nizwa Hospital expansion project, which is nearing completion, is gaining great importance in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah due to the urban expansion, the steady increase in the population, and the increasing need for subspecialties, which constituted a great burden on the hospitals in the Governorate of Muscat.

Dr. Khalifa bin Hamad Al Shaksi, Director of Nizwa Hospital, said: The hospital adds subspecialties, reduces waiting times for surgical appointments, and accelerates the development of health services in general at the governorate level.

In a statement to Oman News Agency(ONA), Al-Shaksi added that the departments included in the expansion project are intensive care, and an integrated intensive care unit for adults with 16 beds which is being built, a cardiac and catheter intensive care unit with 24 beds, and the intensive care unit for premature infants with 33 beds.
