More jobs for Omanis in electricity sector
Under this programme, the jobs of people who work on a permanent basis with subcontractors in the country will be Omanised.

Muscat: 800 young Omanis will be provided training and employment in the country’s electricity sector, as part of the Omanisation efforts to employ more nationals in the private sector.

The efforts are part of an initiative involving a number of organisations, including the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Ministry of Labour, Nama Holding Company, and companies licensed to operate in the nation’s electricity sector.

Under this programme, the jobs of people who work on a permanent basis with subcontractors in the country will be Omanised.

“The programme aims to provide an opportunity to train and employ 800 young Omanis in various technical positions,” said a statement by Oman News Agency (ONA).

“This will help contribute to raising the current Omanisation rates from 47 percent to nearly 90 percent.

“This effort comes as part of the strategy of the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) to implement Oman Vision 2040 by developing and enabling Omanis to take up jobs in the electricity sector,” added the agency.

A number of Omanisation efforts have taken place recently to increase nationalisation across many sectors in the country.

Earlier this month, many major oil and gas companies joined efforts to boost employment levels of Omanis. Similarly, about 6,000 Omanis have been hired as teachers over the past five years.
