Supreme Committee to take series of severe measures to contain rise in COVID cases
Muscat: In order to avoid the worst, the Supreme Committee will take a series of more severe and comprehensive measures that may amount to complete closure and a total ban on movement from April 1, 2021 to May 31, 2021.
The Supreme Committee has decided on the nightly closure of commercial activities and the prevention of movement of individuals and vehicles from 8 pm to 5 am, starting from Sunday, March 28, 2021, until the morning of Thursday, April 8, 2021 .
The committee also decided to extend the decision for students to continue classes in public schools by means of distance education, that was to end on Thursday, April 8, 2021 , with the exception of twelfth grade students who will be dealt with in the blended education system.
The committee reviewed the epidemiological surveillance reports on the pandemic situation in the Sultanate, which showed an escalating increase in its risk, with day by day increase in cases of the number of people in hospital wards and intensive care rooms, and the number of deaths.
Experts' expectations indicate that the period from April 1 to May 31, 2021 will be a very difficult and critical period for the pandemic situation in the Sultanate.
