Thai Food Weeks from March 23 to April 12

The Royal Thai Embassy in collaboration with the authentic Thai restaurants in Oman proudly presents the flavour of Thailand through the “Thai Food Weeks” from March 23 to April 12.

Thai food is known for its exquisite flavours and well-crafted tastes of hot, sweet, sour, salty and spicy. Like no other, the essence of authentic Thai cuisine lies in a variety of herbs and spices which, for centuries, have been contributing to the making of savourous and healthy recipes that reflect the true spirit of Thainess.

To bring the genuine taste of Thai cuisine to the general public of the Sultanate, the event offers special promotions from the Thai restaurants, along with specially made “cooking videos” which will be launched each day during the first week of the campaign, through Times of Oman and Al Shabiba’s online platforms, both in English and Arabic.

Made by talented and experienced Thai chefs from 5 truly authentic Thai restaurants - Charm Thai, Mai Thai, SoiSoi, Thai Corner and Tiptara, the tailor-made videos will unveil the secret recipes of well-known Thai signature dishes namely, Phat Thai, Tom Yum Kung, Chicken with cashew nuts, Beef with black pepper and steamed fish with lime essence. Each traditional step, method and all ingredients will be introduced to the audiences in a simple way, making a sophisticated Thai dish easy to be prepared at home.

Thai Food weeks also reflects the auspicious occasion of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Thailand in the year 2020. In this respect, locally fresh ingredients will showcase as part of those signature dishes of the Thai Food Weeks.

In enhancing the flavour of Thailand, the Royal Thai Embassy is also joining hands with the leading retailer Lulu to bring Halal standard food products, including fresh ingredients from Thailand which will be featured with in-store promotion and online offers in Lulu Hypermarkets across the Sultanate.
