Muscat: Syria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has described the Sultanate's position on the Syrian crisis and regional and international issues as positive and accurate.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said, “His Excellency Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, describes the Sultanate's positions on the Syrian crisis and regional and international issues as positive and accurate because they are inspired by the enlightened thought of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik."

His Excellency affirmed in an interview with ONA,  “The Sultanate's balanced, calm and responsible policy earned it the respect and appreciation of the world. We appreciate the Omani efforts seeking to end the suffering of the Syrian people and Oman’s support to the restoration of stability in Syria."

With regard to the Syrian reconciliation, His Excellency affirmed that the government of his country is working for the sake of the Syrian people and is paying attention to its requirements, and is ready to sit down with the opposition for dialogue on frameworks of responsibility in the interest of the Syrian people. Except for terrorist groups that are financed from abroad and which cannot be negotiated or met with due to their external agendas,” the statement added.
