Celebrating Arab Mother's Day

It is once again time  to shower your mother with love, gifts, and some great moments as Mother’s Day is being celebrated all across the Arab world today. It's a day dedicated to recognise and appreciate the wonderful role that mothers play in bringing up their children. She is the most important person in anyone’s life and so this day is dedicated to honour her contribution in our lives.

Mother's Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. In Oman, Arab Mother's Day is celebrated on March 21. It was introduced in Egypt by journalist Mustafa Amin and was first celebrated in 1957 which was later started in other Arab countries.

While every year this day is celebrated in many extravagant ways by organising special nights out for the mothers or organising a family gathering,  this year due to the ongoing pandemic it's ideal to celebrate this special day at home. After all, quality time is the best gift that you can give your mother.  So don't get disheartened if you aren't going out, it's the sentiment behind the day is what matters the most.

Gift of sleep
It's a proven fact that mother's get the least sleep, sans any age group. So this Mother's Day let your mother catch up on her missed sleep and  this is probably one of the best gifts you could give her.

Breakfast in bed
We all are used to having served our favourite breakfast throughout the year. For a change prepare her breakfast and give her a pleasant surprise. You can also leave a note telling her how important she is to you.

Spend some quality time together
In our busy lives we hardly get time to spend with our mothers. So why not spend some quality time with it?  It could be anything ... from cooking a favourite recipe together, watching a movie or simply having a carefree heart to heart chat.

Make something handmade
From making a simple handmade card with a thoughtful message or a handmade gift ... it could be just anything that has your personal touch. The fact that you have taken out time to make it will make her feel special.
