New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wished Imran Khan a speedy recovery, after his Pakistani counterpart tested positive for COVID-19.
“Best wishes to Prime Minister Imran Khan for a speedy recovery from COVID-19,” he said on his official Twitter account.
Modi’s wishes come just hours after news of the Pakistani Prime Minister’s condition was announced.
“PM Imran Khan has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating at home,” said Dr. Faisal Sultan, Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination
Khan’s positive test came just days after Pakistan took possession of half a million doses of the Sinopharm COVID vaccine, which had been sent by neighbouring China.
“These 500,000 doses will ensure smooth continuation of our vaccination drive, currently underway for senior citizens,” Sultan said on Twitter. “We're grateful to China for their support. This gesture is a testament to our long-standing friendship.”
