Muscat: With the aim of creating job opportunities, improving income, meeting the demand for employment and reducing the number of expatriate workers, the Ministry of Manpower will sign tomorrow a number of agreements to provide part time employment opportunities, in the private sector.
Oman News Agency (ONA) said: “Tomorrow (Sunday), the Ministry of Labour will sign a number of agreements regarding part-time initiatives by some digital platforms.”
The ministry said: "The part time work system aims to create job opportunities, improve income, meet the demand for employment and reduce the number of expatriate workers, as it brings higher productivity for the employer, the ability to increase and reduce the workforce as needed, control costs, meet the needs of the labour market, and flexibility in employing job seekers."
"Partial work will also benefit the national workforce by diversifying and strengthening sources of income, enabling experienced people to work on different contracts with more than one party, and an opportunity to manage time, control the number of working hours, develop new skills, gain experience besides studying for the student or even start a personal project," the ministry added.
There are several types of part time work contracts, including a temporary work contract, a seasonal work contract, an occasional contract, a partial contract, a contract through social media platforms, a specific work contract (a specific task), a fixed-period and indefinite contract, a voluntary work contract, a remote work contract and a free labour contract.
