Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), represented by Omani Studies Center (OSC) will host the international conference on Omani Heritage and Its Sustainability on 29-30 March 2021.
A statement by the OSC said, “For the first time, OSC will host the conference online. Due to the importance of the civilisational heritage and its significance for the current and future generations, this conference will address all aspects of Omani architecture past, present and future.”
“More than 20 research papers will be presented in the conference. Presenters from different countries around the world including Iraq, Kenya, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Kuwait, KSA and Oman will present their findings. The papers will cover seven themes; some of these are: Omani architecture and its historical aspects, the economic aspects of Omani architecture (tourism, agriculture, etc.), the efforts in documenting and listing Omani sites and local, regional and international experiences in architectural heritage preservation.”
