Muscat: There has been a 20 percent increase in the number of street vendors registered during 2020, Ministry of Commerce Industry and Investment Promotion MoCIIP announced.
The Ministry said: "The number of street vendors' activities that were registered during the year 2020 reached 177 activities, compared to 147 activities that were registered during past year 2019, with an increase of 20.40 percent."
MoCIIP affirmed that those wishing to obtain a license to practice the activities of street vendors specified by the regulations can enter through the electronic portal “Invest Easy” and choose the service of creating a new commercial registry, provided that the legal form of the record is chosen (street vendors).
"This service comes with the aim of facilitating the citizens wishing to obtain these permits, as well as to regulate the business of street vendors, guarantee their rights, prevent competition from expats and ensure the health of consumers through health requirements that the seller must adhere to, and provide security and safety in vehicles and equipment used in the exercise of activities," MoCIIP added.
