OCCI seminar focuses on VAT implementation mechanism
Muscat: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in cooperation with the Taxation Authority organised on Tuesday a seminar titled “the Value Added Tax in the Sultanate and Mechanisms of Implementation.”
The seminar which was organised via the social media platforms of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, coincides with the advent of implementation of the value added tax, which will be at the beginning of upcoming month of April.
The seminar reviewed the mechanisms of implementation of the value added tax and tax compliance. The seminar aimed to raise the level of awareness on tax compliance and tax awareness in the Sultanate.
It also aimed to increase the levels of performance efficiency and development of the taxation system.
The seminar discussed a number of issues related to the legal framework and the main concepts of the value added tax along with the main rules of the transitional stage of VAT implementation and the way to prepare for its implementation.
The seminar started with a working paper delivered by Karima bint Mubarak Al Saadi, Acting Director General of Planning, Policies and Tax Compliance, wherein she discussed the main concepts of value added tax.
Mohammed bin Jamil Al Saifi, Director of Policies Department at the Taxation Authority gave a speech in which he tackled the procedures and mechanisms followed in implementation of value added tax.
