OWCA takes on unbeaten ISC in today’s final of Women’s League

MUSCAT: Oman Women’s Cricket Academy (OWCA) takes on Indian Social Club (ISC) Women in Wednesday’s final of Women’s League after handing PSM Women a 125-run drubbing in the eliminator at OC Turf 1 in Amerat on Monday.

ISC topped the group standings with 8 points without losing any of the four games it played, winning a direct entry to the final, while TM Done-sponsored OWCA ended up second with 6 points, winning three before thrashing PSM in the eliminator to reach the final, which will be played at the same venue at 3 pm today.

Led by Vaishali Jesrani, OWCA has made a big impression in its very first season, improving with each game it played as the tournament progressed. Opener Nayan Anil has been the batting star of the tournament, scoring 175 runs in five games, including an unbeaten 102 off 70 balls against PSM on Monday.

Batting first, OWCA posted a robust 146 for 4 on the board thanks to Nayan’s brilliant knock that included 17 boundaries.

None of PSM batswomen reached the double figures as the whole side was dismissed for a dismal 21 that included 10 extras. Shreya Dhuri bowled a splendid spell taking 5 for 10 in four overs, taking her tally of wickets to 12 in 5 games, followed by Payal Kanojia of ISC who picked up 11 in 4 matches. Shreya’s partner Saya Channa was quite impressive too, conceding only 6 runs in 4 overs while also taking a wicket.

Fizza Javed of PSM, second behind Nayan in runs aggregate, ended the tournament with 154 runs in 3 games. Priyanka Mendonca of ISC was third with 126 runs in 4 games. She also claimed 8 wickets in the group games.
