Beware of the Thala this IPL!

During the second T20I between India and England, the host broadcaster aired two ads of MS Dhoni to promote the upcoming IPL starting from April 9, 2021.

The first ad’s message was about Hitman Rohit Sharma being greedy for IPL success even after captaining Mumbai Indians bagging a record breaking five IPL titles two more than CSK. The ad said: “If greed increases your hunger to win, then greed is cool."

The second ad’s message was of angry young man Virat Kohli who has blasted teams around the world with tons of runs while playing his aggressive style and anger. The message for the second ad reflected: "Anger is good if it helps you gain success".

Both commercials were obvious for the promotion of IPL with MS Dhoni in his cool avatar seen teaching the children. However, both counted to be ominous signals from Dhoni to the rest of the IPL teams that CSK captain wants more success and is greedy to attain their fourth title. The second advertisement is, in fact, a signal of the "Calm before the arrival of Storm".

MS Dhoni is known as captain cool all around the world, be it for his franchise or Team India. However, this message states that we might see the other side of Dhoni in the upcoming IPL, the angry old man to gain success.

Dhoni has already started practicing in Chennai with a few of his teammates of CSK and their head coach Stephen Fleming two weeks ago. Both Stephen Fleming, the cool head coach of CSK, and MS Dhoni would like to get the record straight after being knocked out in the league stage for the first time, in its 13th edition last year in the UAE.

Whether it's cool to be greedy to increase your hunger to win or to be angry to attain success, the message is loud and clear that the Thala and the original King of IPL is all but ready to show, who is the real boss of IPL.
