Muscat: More than 6000 workers from 120 companies have been notified of the termination of their services or to collectively dismissed during 2020 in the Sultanate.
The General Federation of Oman Workers said: "6,341 workers notified of termination or to lay off collectively; According to the issues of collective termination of work contracts (layoffs) received by the Federation of Sultanate Workers for the year 2020.
The GFOW report also indicated that the notification of workers' strikes amounted to five notifications, including three in the Commerce and industry sector and two in the oil and gas sector.
The federation also received 1,971 labour complaints last year and 427 reports were monitored during the COVID-19 pandemic.
