Omani guests biggest patrons of hotels in Sultanate

Muscat: Omani guests constituted the largest percentage of the total number of guests at hotels with a rating of 3 to 5 stars in the Sultanate in January at 76 per cent, reaching 59,735 guests.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said: "The total number of guests at 3-5 star hotels in the Sultanate decreased in January by 49.5 per cent, to 78,451 guests, compared to January 2020, during which the number of guests reached 155,488."

"The revenues of these hotels also decreased to reach OMR 6,231,000 compared to OMR 21,26,000 in January 2020, while the occupancy rate reached 27 per cent in January 2020."

Preliminary statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information, on the main indicators of hotels with a rating of 3 to 5 stars, indicated that Omani guests constituted the largest percentage of the total number of guests last January, which was estimated at 76 per cent of the total number of guests, reaching 59,735 guests.

This was followed by Asian guests who numbered 7,435, then European guests, who numbered 3,482, then Arabs from other Arab countries located outside the Gulf, where their number reached 2,242. Gulf Arabians numbered 1,468 and Americans were 437, in addition to 708 guests from Oceania, 377 guests from Africa and 1, 567 guests of other nationalities.
