Government denies rumours of land grant for citizens aged 23 and above in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has denied rumours on social media about grant of residential land for every citizen aged 23 years and over.

A statement issued online by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning said: "The Ministry has monitored on social media the circulation of a message from an unofficial authority stating that every citizen aged 23 years and over is granted residential land. Accordingly, the Ministry confirms that it is the only body officially authorised to register and grant land applications in accordance with the government land entitlement system issued by Royal Decree 84/81 and its amendments."

"The Ministry also stresses the importance of taking information from official sources," the statement added.
