Muscat: Talented Omani rally driver Abdullah Al Zubair will be back behind the wheel after his last participation in 2020 during which he managed to achieve second place in the Jordan National Rally.

Al-Zubair has decided to take part in the first round of the Oman Rally Championship this season.

Al Zubair had taken part in the Oman International Rally in February last year and achieved a positive result despite some technical issues with the car. There was little other participation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Al-Zubair will be sitting behind the steering of SubaruImpreza (N14) with his well-known navigator Taha Soomar. Through this participation, he aims to enhance his skills in driving on the roads in Oman and gain additional experience. These are stages from which drivers sharpen their skills and gain additional experience in dealing with all terrains and landscapes.

"In fact, I thought a lot before participating in the rally again. I love this participation to support my friends and other rally drivers. A rally must have a large number of contestants to make it famous,” said Al Zubair.

He added: “This participation comes after the cancellation of many championships due to the coronavirus pandemic. So you find everyone eager to return strongly to the rally and I am thankful to the OAA for hosting the event at this time and looking forward to be among the top drivers specially in our group at the end of the rally."
