Muscat: In partnership with BP Oman, Outward Bound Oman, a not-for-profit educational training provider, has launched the ‘Discovery Course’ programme which is a series of challenging one-day courses that will take place at Outward Bound Oman’s new Muscat Training Centre in Al Khoudh.
The programme aims to equip 320 Omanis from the ages of 11 to 15 with skills in communication, teamwork, confidence, critical thinking and creativity using sports and adventure exercises.
Shamsa Al-Rawahiya, BP Oman Social Investment Manager, commented, “We believe that our youth hold exceptional talents, and it is our responsibility to enable them to unleash their full potential to become inspirational contributors in our society. The Discovery Course is an example of bp Oman’s efforts in enhancing youth skills by engaging them in exciting challenges and stimulating environments.”
Mark Evans, General Manager of Outward Bound Oman, further added, “Since our establishment, BP Oman has recognised the importance of investing in youth, and as such has been a tremendous supporter of Outward Bound Oman. Our partnership with them has already seen several hundred talented young Omani’s undergo challenging, life-changing courses. The Discovery Course extends the impact of Outward Bound Oman to younger age-groups and helps ensure that the next generation is well prepared for the future challenges that they may face.”
Outward Bound Oman was first established in the UK in 1941 and now operates in 33 countries around the world with Oman being the first Arabic speaking nation to set up an Outward-Bound operation. Since its establishment in 2009, it has delivered training for more than 16,000 individuals, helping them become more confident and capable individuals in society.
