Oman Embassy in Malaysia asks citizens to stay away from Johor

Muscat: Omani citizens and students in Malaysia have been warned to stay away from the state of Johor, the Sultanate’s embassy in Kuala Lumpur said.

A risk of chemical contamination has led authorities to ask that students and residents to stay away from the area of Pasir Gudang in Johor, located in the south of the Malay peninsula.

“The Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has asked the citizens and residents of Malaysia to exercise caution and not to travel to the state of Johor in general and the Pasir Gudang area in particular,” the embassy said in a statement.

“Omani Students in the area are also required to stay away from places that have been exposed to chemical contamination as much as possible and to report to the nearest hospital or clinic immediately if they feel any suffocation or shortness of breath,” the embassy added.
