COVID-19: Muscat Municipality issues new guidelines for barbershops

Muscat: In the wake of rising coronavirus cases in the country, Muscat Municipality has announced new guidelines for barbershops to follow.
Following are guidelines issued by the Municipality:
1-The shop should be equipped with suitable barber chairs, tables and mirrors.
2- The shop should be equipped with a hand sink connected to a source of hot water, detergents and disinfectants needed to clean and disinfect the shaving kit after each use.
 3-The shop must be equipped with a sufficient number of shaving tools and devices to sterilize the shaving tools.
 4-The shop must be equipped with a sufficient number of non-absorbable cloths, towels and shaving towels.
5- The shop should be equipped with enough waiting seats for customers for every barber chair.
 6-The shop must provide paper linens (roll) for each barber chair, which is used for one time.
 7- The shop must be equipped with a sufficient number of clean white coats for the workers to use during work.
 8-The shop must provide a first aid box equipped with all necessary medical tools and supplies.
9- In the event that the shop provides hair-dye or facial-cleaning service, an additional separate area of no less than four square meters must be provided in the shop.
 10-Providing a basket to collect the used towels so that they can be re-washed and it is prohibited to use them more than once without washing them and keeping them in plastic bags after washing them until they are used. It is not allowed to wash them in unsanitary places or dry them outside or use them for another customer after re-drying them without washing them.
 11-Commitment to using single-use tools such as a mask, comb, medical swab, chair protector, gloves, blade holder and plastic apron, which must be of environmentally friendly and biodegradable materials.
12- There must be a provision for containers with tight covers intended to collect used aprons.
