Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,558.43 points, up 0.12 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.38 per cent at 533.79 points. Sharqiyah Desalination, up 3.31 per cent, was the top gainer while the Oman Emirates down 4.76 per cent was the top loser. Shares of Bank Nizwa were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while was most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 344 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.06 million, with more than 8.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 31 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 10 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR269,00 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR205,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR64,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,324.34 points, up by 0.23 per cent. Bank Nizwa and Ominvest were up by 2.08 per cent and 0.62 per cent respectively. Oman Emirates Holding, United Finance, Dhofar Insurance, and Bank Muscat were down by 4.76 per cent, 2.70 per cent, 2.44 per cent and 0.50 per cent respectively.   

Industrial Index closed at 4,639.97 points, down 0.05 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Al Anwar Ceramic and Al Maha Ceramic were up by 2.08 per cent, 1.32 per cent and 0.39 per cent respectively. Aluminium Product, Raysut Cement, Oman Cable and Jazeera Steel were down by 2.35 per cent, 1.90 per cent, 0.50 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively.

Services index was down by 0.15 per cent before closing at 1,553.18 points. Sharqiyah Desalination and Al Jazeera Service were up by 3.31 per cent and 1.73 per cent. Sembcorp Salalah and Ooredoo were down by 2.17 per cent and 0.5 per cent respectively.
