Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,554.13 points, down 0.35 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.19 per cent at 531.77 points.

Oman Fisheries, up 2.33 per cent, was the top gainer while Madina Takaful, SMN Power down 8.11 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Anwar Ceramic were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while was most active in terms of turnover

A total number of 329 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.04 million, with more than 5.53 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 12 advanced, 26 declined and 24 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR115,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR62,000 followed by local investors for OMR52,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,312.09 points, down by 0.36 per cent. Al Sharqia Investment and Bank Muscat were up by 1.39 per cent and 1.01 per cent. Al Omaniya Financial, Bank Nizwa, and Sohar International Bank were down by 4.11 per cent, 3.06 per cent and 1.32 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,642.35 points, down 0.22 per cent. Oman Fisheries was up by 2.33 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Jazeera Steel and Al Maha Ceramic were down by 2.0 per cent, 0.92 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively.

Services index was down by 0.44 per cent before closing at 1,555.33.14 points. Al Jazeera Service was down by 1.76 per cent. SMN Power, Muscat Desalinate, Sharqiyah Desalin, Phoenix Power and Ooredoo were down by 8.11 per cent, 7.22 per cent, 3.20 per cent, 1.96 per cent and 1.47 per cent respectively.
