Isolation recommended for Covid-19 patient contacts in Oman

Muscat: Asymptomatic contacts of laboratory-confirmed Covid-19 patients will also have to undergo isolation of up to 14 days from the last day of contact with the confirmed Covid-19 patient, the Ministry of Health (MOH), said.

A statement issued online by MOH said: "Isolation procedures for laboratory-confirmed cases and contacts:

1- For laboratory-confirmed cases, person to be isolated for 10 days from the day symptoms appear, provided that there is no fever for atleast 48 hours without the use of antipyretics and other symptoms improve.

2- For the Contacts of the laboratory-confirmed cases:

- If a person shows symptoms, the person is to be isolated for 10 days counting from the start of symptoms, provided that there is no fever for atleast 48 hours without the use of antipyretics and other symptoms improve.

- If a person does not show symptoms, He/she to be isolated for 14 days from the last day of exposure to the infected person, after which the isolation is terminated without the need to repeat the PCR test.
