
Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,578.25 points, down 0.55 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.29 per cent at 537.46 points.
Galfar Engineering, up 9.30 per cent, was the top gainer while National Bank of Oman, down 5.26 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of National Bank of Oman were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Al Anwar Ceramic was most active in terms of turnover.
A total number of 701 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.1 million, with more than 14.5 million shares changing hands.
Out of 42 traded stocks, 12 advanced, 9 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net sellers for OMR785,000 while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR556,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR229,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 5,311.68 points, down by 1.03 per cent. Ominvest and HSBC Bank Oman were up by 1.91 per cent and 1.27 per cent respectively. National Bank of Oman, Sohar International Bank, Al Madina Investment, Ahli Bank and Bank Nizwa were down 5.27 per cent, 4.82 per cent, 4.00 per cent, 2.73 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 4,625.16 points, up 0.89 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Raysut Cement, Al Anwar Ceramic, Aluminium Product and Al Maha Ceramic were up by 9.30 per cent, 2.65 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.19 per cent and 0.78 per cent respectively.
Services index was down by 0.19 per cent before closing at 1,590.0 points. Al Jazeera Service, Omantel, Renaissance Service and Oman Oil were up by 3.56 per cent, 1.05 per cent, 0.58 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively. Shell Oman, Al Suwadi Power, Al Batinah Power, and Ooredoo were down by 3.98 per cent, 2.00 per cent, 2.00 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively.
