Two persons rescued from capsized boat, search underway for third

Muscat: Two people have been rescued and a search operation is underway for a third at the site of a boat accident off the Al Fahal island in Muscat. The boat, with three citizens onboard, capsized in the sea.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said: "Search and Rescue Coordination Center of the Royal Air Force of Oman, in coordination with the Coast Guard Police of the Royal Oman Police and the relevant authorities, conducted a search and rescue operation for a fishing boat with 3 citizen fishermen on board after their boat sank off Al Fahal Island in Muscat."

"Two people were found by one of the cooperating citizens, while a helicopter of the Royal Oman Air Force searches for the third citizen. Bad weather conditions are hampering the efforts which are continuing."

"This comes within the framework of the humanitarian services provided by the Sultan's Armed Forces and other departments in the Ministry of Defense, along with other government institutions in the country," the statement added.
