Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,597.86 points, down 0.23 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.15 per cent at 535.89 points. Galfar Engineering, up 4.88 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman Oil Marketing, down 9.74 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Jazeera Steel Product was most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 468 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.08 million, with more than 15.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 6 advanced, 16 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net buyers for OMR54,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR40,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR14,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,366.92 points, down by 0.24 per cent. Ominvest, Oman Arab Bank, and Al Anwar Investment were up 3.97 per cent, 2.14 per cent and 1.52 per cent respectively. United Finance, Sohar International Bank, Al Sharqia Investment, HSBC Bank Oman and Madina Takaful were down by 2.44 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 1.32 per cent, 1.25 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,584.23 points, down 0.53 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the only gainer by 4.88 per cent. While Oman Cables Industry, Jazeera Steel Product, Oman Cement, Al Maha Ceramics and Al Anwar Ceramics were down 2.67 per cent, 2.26 per cent, and 1.82 per cent, 0.77 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.

Services index was up by 0.44 per cent before closing at 1,593.08 points. Phoenix Power and Al Jazeera Service were up 3.92 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively. Oman Oil Marketing, United Power and Dhofar Generating were down 9.74 per cent, 9.27 per cent and 5.88 per cent respectively.
