GFoW records violations of worker's rights

Muscat: The General Federation of Oman Workers (GFoW) has registered five reports of workers' rights violation within a span of five days.

The GFoW said in a statement, "Five Settlement records and new collective work agreements through the meetings of the work teams in the governorates tasked with following up and reviewing the decisions of the national workforce who have been terminated from work. 5 reports received by the General Federation of Oman workers during the period from January 31 to February 4, 2021."

According to the federation, reports included deduction of wages, forcing workers to go on unpaid leave, deduction of leaves for quarantine periods from annual leave, and notifications of termination of service.

According to the data shared by the Federation, The total number of reports that the General Federation has monitored from 2020 to 2021 amounted to 441 reports, of which 427 were registered in 2020 and 14 reports were registered in 2021.

"The total number of settlement minutes and collective work agreements reached 418, including 366 in year 2020 and 52 in the current year."
