Oman's CPA asks consumers to file complaints against cheating

Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) is monitoring complaints of suppliers reducing the weight of goods while continuing to charge the same price, related to the sale of bread,  ghee and grass. The Authority asked consumers to report such violations.

A statement by the CPA  said: "The authority recently observed that some suppliers reduce the weight of bread products, ghee, grass, etc., while the price remains the same, which is against the law. This is an indirect price hike and fraud on consumers."

"The authority has taken the necessary measures immediately on those who tamper with the weights of goods," the CPA added.

CPA affirmed its continuous follow-up of commodity prices, in order to protect consumers' rights, and calls on shopkeepers not to indulge in such fraudulent practices.
