Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,603.71 points, down 0.52 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up 0.81 per cent at 534.15 points. Al Jazeera Service Insurance, up 7.84 per cent, was the top gainer while Galfar Engineering, down 8.16 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Al Madina Investment was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 654 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.0 million, with more than 10.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, 10 advanced, 13 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR330,000 while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR303,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR27,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,386.122 points, down by 0.77 per cent. Oman Qatar Insurance, Al Madina Investment, National Life Insurance, and Al Sharqia Investment were up by 5.26 per cent, 4.35 per cent, 2.92 per cent, and 2.74 per cent respectively. Ahlia Insurance, Sohar International Bank, Al Omaniya Financial, Oman United Insurance, and United Finance were down by 7.78 per cent, 4.49 per cent, 4.41 per cent, 2.56 per cent and 2.38 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,603.73 points, up 0.46 per cent. Jazeera Steel, Al Maha Ceramics, and Al Anwar Ceramic were up by 6.67 per cent, 2.36 per cent, and 2.14 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering was down by 8.16 per cent.

Services index was up by 0.06 per cent before closing at 1,598.49 points. Al Jazeera Service was up by 7.84 per cent. Al Batinah Power, Phoenix Power, OIFC and Ooredoo were down by 2.00 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively.
