Muscat: Continuing to transform the fuel industry, Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) recently participated in the Middle East Bunkering Convention 2021.
Held online, the conference gathered key industry players to discuss the issues and challenges facing the marine fuels sector and the wider shipping industry.
During the event, OOMCO’s General Manager of International Retail, Ali Ahmed Muqaibal, shared a video presentation on the company’s expanding marine fuels and solutions at the Port of Duqm. Playing an active role in the bunker business since 1994, OOMCO is currently building a bunker terminal bunker barge to be permanently located at the port, part of its strategic mission to broaden its services beyond fuel while supporting Oman’s 2040 Vision.
Ali Ahmed Muqaibal said, “As part of our strategic goals, OOMCO continues to add infrastructure to our already substantial bunker fuel services offering to customers throughout Oman. The Port of Duqm is a preferred shipping destination and, together with our experience and customer-centric focus, will be of great benefit to our shipping customers at Duqm and further afield. The conference was a great opportunity for us to showcase our latest services and facilities, to reinforce our commitment to offering quality products and services, and to raise awareness on the Sultanate’s growing potential as a world-class logistics hub.”
OOMCO has been active in providing bunker services in all of Oman’s major ports over the last few years, supplying a full spectrum of bunker and marine lubricants services. The company’s bunker terminal at the Port of Duqm, which is set to be commissioned before the second quarter of this year, will serve as the central hub for bunkering services in other ports in Oman, offering 30,000 cubic metres storage capacity.
The terminal will also benefit from being next door to Duqm Refinery, which is planned to be commissioned in the first half of 2022, in addition to Oman Dry Dock, Ras Markaz Strategic Oil Reserves Storage, and a growing number of industries in the Freezone. OOMCO’s growing investments in Duqm will have a positive country-wide impact while providing optimal product sourcing and cost-effectiveness.
With a focus on the development of strategic partnerships and offering services that deliver more than just fuel, the company aims to position itself among the top five fuel marketers in the GCC by 2025.
