Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,622.60 points, down 0.76 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down 0.11 per cent at 529.86 points.

Oman Qatar Insurance, up 5.56 per cent, was the top gainer while Oman Arab Bank, down 5.37 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 385 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR0.965 million, with more than 6.60 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 3 advanced, 17 declined and 22 remained unchanged.

At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR336,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR211,000 followed by local investors for OMR125,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,428.07 points, down by 1.02 per cent. Oman Qatar Insurance and Al Madina Investment were up by 5.56 per cent and 4.55 per cent. Oman Arab Bank, National Bank of Oman, National Life Insurance, Ahli Bank and Ominvest were down by 5.37 per cent, 2.90 per cent, 2.84 per cent, 2.61 per cent and 2.52 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,582.76 points, down 0.22 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Oman Cement and Jazeera Steel were down by 2.0 per cent, 0.74 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively.

Services index was down by 0.47 per cent before closing at 1,597.484 points. Renaissance Service was up by 1.14 per cent. Phoenix Power, OIFC, Al Batinah power and Al Suwadi Power were down by 3.77 per cent. 2.0 per cent 1.96 per cent and 1.96 per cent respectively.
