Indonesian embassy calls for stronger Oman-Jakarta ties

MUSCAT: The Indonesian Ambassador to the Sultanate, Mohamad Irzan Djohan, has called for encouraging stronger strategic partnership between the two countries.

This follows the recent partnership agreement between Omani tech company ETCO with Indonesian Awadah Group, which promotes cultural-linguistic exchange between the two countries with the help of technology. This partnership also involves Indonesia’s WIR Group as the technology enabler and developer in the digital field.

Ambassador Irzan Djohan hopes that more Omani companies, especially from the private sector will develop close contacts with Indonesian companies.

Indonesian Embassy in Muscat will help connect Omani companies and investors with Indonesian digital players.

The ambassador is optimistic that Omani companies and investors will be interested in strategic partnership with Indonesian companies because both nations and their people share similar values.

“Aside from the economic benefits of having a strategic partnership, I believe that our people could work together, which is important for partnership. Both are peace-loving people with passion for humanity as well as new technology”, said the ambassador.

First secretary of economic section of the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat, Ahmad Ma’rufi, added that Indonesia has undergone more than a decade of digital transformation which has improved human interactions, learnings, and transactions.

This also has created many Indonesian companies specialising in new technology, such as WIR Group which specialises in augmented reality, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence.

“We call on Omani companies and investors to get acquainted with Indonesian future technology companies as we have the best companies in the region, and also a very high population to apply the tech” .

Indonesian Embassy in Muscat has a list of companies ready to partner with Omani counterparts and is available to set up virtual matchmaking sessions.
