Oman's share index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSM index closed at 3,660.163 points, down 0.48 per cent from the previous close.

The Sharia Index ended down 0.33 per cent at 527.87 points. Oman Refreshment, up 19.91 per cent, was the top gainer today while National Bank of Oman, down 8.90 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineer was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded and Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 529 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.93 million, with more than 11.31 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 16 advanced, 8 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR76,000 while local investors were net sellers for OMR59,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR17,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 5,506.77 points, down by 0.84 per cent. Al Anwar Holding and Bank Muscat were up by 1.54 per cent and 1.52 per cent respectively. National Bank of Oman, Al Madina Investment, Al Sharqia Investment, Al Madina Takaful and Bank Dhofar were down by 8.90 per cent, 4.35 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 1.12 per cent and 0.95 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 4,633.308 points, up 2.21 per cent. Oman Refreshment, Jazeera Steel and Galfar Engineering were up by 19.91 per cent, 5.31 per cent and 2.04 per cent respectively. Gulf International, Dhofar Cattle, Oman Flour and Oman Fisheries were down by 2.75 per cent, 2.06 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 1.15 per cent respectively.
Services index was down by 0.06 per cent before closing at 1,600.754 points. Al Jazeera Service was down by 1.17 per cent respectively.
