Muscat: Stating that hiring expatriate workforce was not a low-cost option, the Ministry of Labour said that private sector enterprises will find employing qualified and skilled Omanis was the best option for them.
In a press conference announcing implementation plans for 2021, the Ministry said: "Great efforts are being made to correct the conditions of the labour market and to achieve a balance between the number of job seekers and the available employment opportunities."
The ministry added: "The localisation of jobs enhances investment through a set of procedures that the ministry is working on in order to enhance the choice of the Omani instead of an expatriate in terms of the high cost of bringing in an expatriate and the various procedures that are required later, including obtaining licenses, which cost companies a lot, while employing an Omani does not require these procedures."
