Sohar: His Highness  Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham bin Taimour Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, has said that the restructuring and merging of culture, sports and youth sectors in one ministry serves the clubs’ task of performing their social duty and conforms to the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and contributes to realising achievements in international arenas.

The minister made the statement during a plenary meeting he held on Monday with heads of clubs at Sohar Sports Club, Governorate of North Al Batinah.

The merging of clubs grants them effective roles in the three sectors, which are considered an important domain for innovation, said His Highness Sayyid Theyazin, who urged the heads of clubs to maximise the potential of the clubs in the next stage.

He called for rallying efforts to advance culture and youth activities while at the same time focusing on participation in the Ministry’s programmes, opening up to the social milieu and espousing joint programmes combining the issues of society and the environment.

The articles of association of sports clubs will be finalised shortly, said His Highness  Sayyid Theyazin, who hoped that this would meet the aspirations of clubs and contribute to upgrading Omani sports.
Sayyid Theyazin laid emphasis on the role of general assemblies which, he said, are the legal point of reference to the functioning of clubs.

He also underscored the significance of investment and diversification of financial resources. He noted that a department at the Ministry to be entrusted with investment will assist the cause of clubs.
