Three held for extortion in Oman

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), has arrested three people on charges of fraud, electronic extortion and money laundering .

A statement issued online by ROP said: “Three people were arrested on charges of fraud, extortion and money laundering after the accused impersonated a girl and communicated with the victims on a social media website and asked to send private pictures of them. After they obtained the pictures , they blackmail the victim to pay large sums of money.” ROP said in a statement.
